Hi guys and gals, one of my swords has developed small white spots on her tail, any ideas how i can treat this with out adding chemicals to the water?

or if chemicals are the last resort what/ how is the best way to go about treating her? :/

Without chemicals: raise temp a bit, add freshwater aquarium salt, water changes

Chemicals: Water changes. Buy whatever "ich" medicine your lfs has in stock... I personally use Quick Cure, but I wouldn't order offline to get something special. Your lfs will most likely have something that will work.

Is salt OK for all the fish in that tank?? Just asking cuz I know some don't like it. I do know of other people that use salt + high temps to cure ick, so if all those fishies can tolerate salt, it might just work.

no...corys will get their skin burned

Your right heresmike, no corys here, i think a trip down the LFS tomorrow should do the job,
:D

if you are gonna use medication, the best i have come across is.......king british,WS3 white spot terminator. good luck.xx.

pump the temperature to about 82...change 25% everyday

don't put quick-cure in if you have plecs or Cories

my g/f did that to her tank, both of them died and the ones that had ich didn't

...and cories also don't like salt, I don't know about plecs

The loaches dont like the salt, but IME they're fine... just not as happy for a week or so. Watch the kuhuli's close with temperatures above 80.

thanks guys, do you think its best to treat the whole tank or seporate her into a diff tank until shes clear, will treating the tank with whitespot medication endanger any of the fish listed below?
