thanks for everyones support,,
you've really helped alot
and thanks for standing up for me autarus

and pure,
you bluntly told people to "READ" what i said when you yourself obviously didn't
the dog does not have and aggressive history
she has never attempted to bite another soul until now
she is however jumpy (from being beaten herself) which, when she was younger, usually resulted in her barking
i have more to say but i have to run to the store so i'll be back to finish in about half an hour

Shy, jumpy and skittish are all words for 'aggressive'... If you knew your dog was NOT COMFORTABLE OR SOCIALIZED around strangers you should've been more cautious... Simple as that

if you read you would have seen that she kept her hands on the dog when the boy pet it to reassure her dog that things were ok. She kept a harness on to keep the dog under control. She tried to be as cautious as possible. I dont think your a perfect person, mistakes happen just leave her be.

so you think i'm irrisponsible?
well lets see here,
i took her in knowing she would be harder to train since she was so jumpy and shy, when noone else gave her a second glance
she has a halti for walks,
she has a muzzle for anytime we are camping and she is not on a leash as a precation as she had never bit anyone before
she was on a very short leash and she usually loves children
although you are intitles to your own opinion the dog is under my control and yes it was a stupid mistake to let her be pet by strangers but her behavior towards children is COMPLETELY different and outgoing compared to towards an adult
i don't know what set her off but the minute she snapped she was muzzled and calm, as i told her "no"
i never let her loose with the children
and you and i have a completely different definition of aggressive
being shy is unpredictable yes, but NOT aggressive behavior
as for barking, a LARGE portion of dogs out there bark
they bark when afraid, anxious, happy, upset, angry and even more reasons
barking is a defence in itself
it DOES NOT MEAN that a barking dog is a biting dog
you really shouldn't judge others so harshly but like i said you are entitled to your own opinion so good luck with that.

well put and thanxs for your support

My dog barks at people walking by our house but if you said boo she would run and hide. She would never bite anyone.

My dog is skitish around black men for some reason. Doesn't mean she's going to bite them. She actually lets them pet her once she get's to know them

My dog also jumps if a pot falls or something. She's jumpy doesn't mean she's a biter.

I agree with pointy. Just because a dog acts a certain way doesn't mean it's aggressive. Maybe with some dogs but not every dog is the same.

You know for being so supportive of rescueing and adopting animals that need homes you sure are rude to the people who do!

In another post you said don't breed cats because there are ones that need homes but here you are telling pointy to get rid of the dog she got from the spca because it's skittish... what's with you?

Even the most well trained polite dog can bite a person if provoked. So I can understand why an already mistreated animal would be more proned to biting and you have to give the animal a chance. At least she's socializing the dog and not locking him in the backyard his whole life...

You keep dwelling on the fact that she didn't talk to the parents but it's done and overwith now and your just trying to make her feel guilty.

I think PK shouldn't have a dog that she can't control... She has shown bad judgement by letting the dog bite a 6 yo child and then leaving w/o explaining what happend to the kid. She knew the dog is un-socialized & 'aggressive.' She made a bad decision. Some people just aren't suited to rescue animals...

She didn't LET the dog do anything. She didn't make the dog attack the child she didn't just sit there and turn her back. ACCIDENT!!!!

And I supposer her leaving w/o explaining was an accident too??? :/

I thought you were 'done' a few posts ago???

Ya well you kept blabbing on so I figured so would I...

Maybe you should be done posting because no one is agreeing with you.

Pure14K are you perfect? Is everything you do perfect? Pointy realized she did something wrong and left without talking to the parents. She took in the dog and is trying to rehabilitate and that is something that should be respected. Dont come in and tell her she isnt fit to have a dog. This is suppose to be the friendliest forum around, not a forum where you bash someone for an accident.

I couldn't care less if anyone is agreeing with me or not... I'm going to state my opinion, regardless...

Pure14K are you perfect? Is everything you do perfect?

I am far from being perfect, never stated that I was. However, I have enough intelligence to understand that a dog that is not socialized & uncomfortable around strangers, shouldn't be able to get w/i reach of a 6 yo child.

This is suppose to be the friendliest forum around, not a forum where you bash someone for an accident.

I'm not 'bashing' anyone. I'm giving my opinion

So what do you want her to do? Lock her dog up in the backyard it's whole life? Chain it to a tree? Uthenize it? Send it back to the pound where it will probably be put to sleep? Never ever take it on a walk again?

Be more cautious... ESPECIALLY around children... And if your dog bites someone, don't just 'run away'... Do the mature, responsible thing & let the parent's know what happened... (I didn't think that was so hard to understand :dunno: )
