I think if anyone is willing to take an abused dog and work with them they are NOT an irresponsible person. The people who had the dog before were irresponsible but definatly NOT her. IMO what you said was totally out of line. And not many people would take an abused dog so that dog probably found it's one owner.

And having an abused dog that HAS A HISTORY OF AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOUR out and about around kids and then after the dog BITES the kid, leaves the scene w/o explaing what happened to the parents, is totally irresponsible...

Usually dogs from the SPCA and the pound don't have a history. You don't know the history of the dog. So how is she supposed to know it has a history of aggressive behavior?

And she paniced... the boy wasn't hurt and she's saying she wants to find the parents. Give her a break.

Did you not read what she wrote??? Go back & read what she wrote re: the dog and his behaviour..... Then tell me she didn't know he is aggressive..... She panicked... Sorry, but I don't think that's a good enough excuse for her to have not went back over there & explained the situation....

Yes I read it. She also said the dog LOVED kids.

She knew the dog didn't like older people so she kept the dog away from them.

How responsible is that? Pretty damn responsible.

Like was said, she didn't know the dog was gonna bite.

It wasn't good enough for you? Well, it's not really your problem is it? Plus she can't go back in time and make it better. At least she wants to find the parents.

Never said it was my problem.... There you go assuming things again

I gave my opinion, plain & simple.... It's pathetic that there are animal owners out there with no regard to other people's safety....

Just like the people who had their pit bull around the 3 week old infant, and the dog killed the baby... But they didn't know their dog was going to bite.... So what? No excuse

Ughhhh.... all I have to say is ughhhhhh....

I do not believe she had no regard for the childrens safety. It's not like she said sick em' and is letting her dog go around attacking people.

Also, I didnt assume anything. I asked you a question.

I quit this is obviously pointless....

i do agree that there are people who dont care for other peoples safety. i dont know if this comment was made towards pointy kitty and if it was i dont think she took her dog for a walk without caring for anyones safety. yes it sucks that it happened, but saying she is an irresponsible pet owner you are now the one assuming something.

She should've been more cautious... Especially if she knew her dog is aggressive sometimes. And then to run away after her dog bites a 6 year old? If that isn't irresponsibility, I don't know what is...

Dude, get over yourself. She didn't run away.

Pointy... I'm trying to defend you here buddy but there's just no reasoning with some people... hopefully when you read this someone will have had something possitive to say to help your situation!

Kudos for adopting an abused animal!!!! You rock!!!! :flex:

i yanked the leash back and i closed the halti but she grazed his leg
the boy started to run and the girl just stood there in shock so i wrapped the leash tightly around the dogs face and held her by the collar,
then i grabbed the little boys candy and coaxed him to come back reasuring him that the dog can't touch him now
he took the candy and although he wasn't crying he looked a little scarred and was rubbign his leg
i gently asked if he was ok and if i could see his leg
he showed me and although there was no broken skin there was one little blue tooth mark bruse
i must have apologized a million times and explained to the kids that they must have spooked her and that i got her from the spca and that the people who had her before were very mean and would hit her
the little girl was calm and didn't seem scared and reexplained this and reasured it to her older brother (about 6 years old)
he then was calm too
i apologized again and made sure he was ok

But she's looking for them now... *get* it??? Whatever that means.... **

Pointy, I'm sure you didn't know your dog would bite the little boy. It's good that you comforted him and made sure he was all right. Although the blame cannot really be put on anyone, I still wonder where the parents of the children were. My aprents would never let me go and pet a stranger's dog, no matter how friendly it looked :dunno:

If I were you I'd try to find the parents of the little boy. There's not much else you can do, and you probably won't find them (it's a big world out there!) but at least it'll ease your conscience. I don't think your dog will be taken away or put down.

I tried to put myself in the parent's position by asking how I would feel if a stranger's dog bit my child and then left the scene. If he/she didn't return I'd probably blame the owner and try to find him or her to press charges. If he/she did return and explained the situation, I most definitely would try to be as understanding as possible and would probably just try to forget the entire incident.

Good luck with whatever you decide
