Ive just returned from my LFS with an additional tetra for my tank (I wanted another male) and found that the bag it was placed in was leaking, after the 15 min walk there was very little left for it. I dont think the lickle fella is going to make it :-(

u could try feeding ur fish to take any attention away from the new tankmate

also try turning the lights off and lowering the power of ur spray from ur filter just to keep things calm for a bit.......it may help relieve any shock it may be in

Tek :fish:

Generally, for a short period at least, fish can survive being in very little water. Shock is the problem, and the advice above is fine.

My mate Bob came back from holiday to find a canister filter had sprung and siphoned all but a inch or so from his big tank. In it, his 6 big Discus were lying on their sides basically unable to move. He had no idea how long they'd been like that, but all survived.

Well he does seem to be surviving :D

He has eaten but doesnt seem upto fighting to the top to eat, so I fed brine shrimp today (the only food I have that even begins to get a chance to sink any further than straight into the mouth of my mollies)

But his colouring is very poor at the moment, is that usual in stressed fish? I picked him because he had the darkest colouring in the store, I am aware that different lights between the store tank and mine could show the colors differently but he is now very washed out :(

stress does wash out the colours of fish yeah

try feedin some frozen bloodworm...might help him feel more relaxed n try leavin the lights out longer

yeah i would agree, sometimes they stress out and loss color finnage

I had a male koi angels froma pair I order arrive in very little water. The bag leaked somewhere in transit and he was as you described your fish. That was 8 days ago. Today he is perfectly fine and also spawned this afternoon. Keep the lights out and water movement to a minimum for a day or two and yours will be fine too.

Thanks everyone, he is great today, infact hard to tell apart from my other male Black Phantom, all his colour has returned and he is happily involved in tank life :D

The only problem is with brine shrimp and blood worm in one week my fish are now very spoilt lickle fishes  I rarely feed them more than three times a week normally
