Oddballs For A 64 Litre ?

hello everybody, can anybody name me any oddballs that could be kept in a 2foot 6 litre tank, looking for something a little different to keep and wondering whats out there

I dont know how much your willing to spend but I would get a Zig Zag Eel, or some Bichirs. Ghost catfish and leaf fish or Dragon gobys are cool too. Also the ropefish. You can probally get all of these from a petstore if you ask them for it.

I wouldn't dare put an eel, bichir, or dragon goby in a tank with that volume. 64 liters? That comes out to 19 US gallons, which, if you're talking about advertised tank volume, is much less in actual volume. Not to mention volume taken up by substrate and decor.

I would personally go with either a few dwarf puffers or a single Figure-8 puffer.

Or, how about some uncommon betta or killi species? Might not be classed as oddballs, but perhaps equally uncommon.

that being said youve reminded me of a cool fish i havent kept in about 15 years I may have a look for one today

How about half beaks or a pair of dwarf pike cichlids. Freshwater toadfish? It's good size but is very lazy...

African Butterfly Fish no problem at all, you could almost certainly have two in a 2foot6 long tank. Use some floating plants; fake plants; furniture; ornaments etc. to break up the water surface into territories and give the fish something to feel safer under.

I had two that shared the water surface of my 620T (~60-40cm footprint) without serious issue.

Red Eyed Puffer, Neolamprologus multifasciatus not an oddball as such but certainly interesting.

what size is the tank as my 65 litres only 24 x 12 footprint and i wouldnt keep a butterfly in that

thanks for the ideas everyone my tank is 2ft long and about 1ft 3 inch in width

and the figure 8 puffers, are they able to be kept in a community tank ? i heard thats its been done before but it doesnt work all of the time, also is it okay to keep them in a freshwater setup or should they be kept in brackish water ?

Sorry , I got Liters mixed up with gallons. You could still put a pictus catish in there with some elephant fish and maybe a african butterfly fish.

The only time you could possibly get away with that combo in a "2ft long and about 1ft 3 inch in width" footprint 64l tank would be as an emergency while the catfish and Elephant Nose were tiny babies. The Pictus is far too zippy for the ABF and needs something like a 5-foot tank with conspecifics, while an Elephant Nose could mix with an ABF long term they get far too big for a 64l and would also need somewthing like a 5-foot tank.
