Odd behavior..

I've recently (in the past week or so) noticed some strange behavior with my 2 panda corys. I usually notice them doing this in the morning and at night. Basically, they start swimming straight up the glass (at a pretty darned good speed!), and then dive bomb right back to the bottom. They'll do this quite a few times in a row, and then finally settle on the bottom.... for a rest before doing it again! I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed this in their corys, and if I should be worried. I'm assuming they're fine since my tank is healthy and they seem to be also.

I know what you're talking about, my corries do it in groups though. They all follow the leader, they go up and down and up and down sometimes when they go down they go straight for the top of the water and then bomb back down. I don't know what it is but I've had the same experience...

Mine do that when the water gets bad. Usually ammonia.

I'd test your water just to be safe.

Yes there also just scanning for some food on the glass I've heard somewehre (or read) but yes fun fun fun (I also read it has something to do with low oxygen) but theres nothign wrong

mine do it too,i've always put it down to fun and games,i check my water and havnt noticed a problem.they seem to do it night and morning and rest in the day. pebbles

My Otos do it, too. Only when they get tired of going up and down, they go across. Whee!!!!!!!!

I have a school of about 20 young corys that do the same thing. They usually go from side to side; once in a while they go up and down. It is quite a sight to see!

This mimics the behavior of the adults when they are getting ready to lay eggs. I guess they are looking for a good spot. Do you think the kiddies are just playing house?
