Obsession Or Not

Started with a 60ltr about 10yrs ago which had a mish mash of very unsuitable fish then worked my way up to my biggest which is 1380ltrs but still aiming for that "bigger tank" :(

I started off with a 10g tanks that I had gotten for my kids. Then I though, these fish need a bigger home. Bought a 25g hexagon. THen I though, this would be better with real plants...

Then my husband wanted something a little more of a challenge. Bought a 55g for malawi cichlids. Then for my birthday, my husband bought be a 75g tank, which is now my Green Terror tank. Then we saw a great deal on a 47g bowfront, so we bought it, but it came with 2 oscars and 2 jack dempseys! So within a month we were carting in a 125g bad boy! Then the Jack Dempseys started spawning! In comes another 55g. Then we bought another 75g tank so we could up the malawi population.

Currently running: 10g fry tank, 75g malawi, 75g GT/Severum (sevs will move when I fix the stand to my 125g), 55g jack dempsey breeding tank, 47g community, 30g community.

WOW GUY's, It really is an obsession, think I need counseling........... :*

Lol I do for sure. Can't do anything by halves  At least keeping fish is a relatively harmless focus.

Thanks Dazzler, I said to the wife last night,I am thinking of getting a bigger tank, she said, "over my dead body" had to phone for an ambulance.......... :/ :D

Haha! Brilliant!

What's even better is that last night I (jokingly) said to my husband that I was shopping for a bigger tank and he didn't even bat an eyelid! So I pushed a little harder...as ya do, and said "Yes, we can wall over that door there and could fit a 6 footer" his response was "sure but the room would seem a little crowded, the dining room would be better"

I NEARLY DIED OFF!
Ha Ha, look after him he's a gem......

My grandparents were big on koi ponds, and my uncles too. I started with a 2 gallon fishtank when I was 5, converted to a turtle tank when all of the fish died. Then I got a 10 gallon, which I left with my parents when I went off to college, and now I have a 56 gallon in my little apartment. Luckily, they don't ban pets. I've gotten the 10 gallon back too, but it's sitting empty along with a 29 gallon my parents had. Maybe I'll work on those when I find some money... :hyper:

Well, i bought the wife a Fishbox 90 (64litres) and 18 months later had more or less taken over running it myself. Mainly was guppies, corys, and got sold 3 clown loaches to get rid of the snails, plus a common pleco. AFTER buying the loaches, (and they ate several hundred snails in about 4 days) realised the mistake once i started reading up on them. Talked wife into a Fluval 240litre tank so i could keep the loaches cause they're my favourite fish, I'm now soaking some nice bogwood to start adding more than the 3 plants to the tank, and planning to replace the Fluval305 with a 406 filter and an inline heater so i can have less equipment in the tankspace (more water means more fishes!) Currently have a mixed school of 8 blackskirt and colombian tetras, the 2 peppered corys and 2 remaining clown loaches, 3 ottos(from a batch of 6), a small bristlenose plec and we still have some guppies(males and females, fancy, plain and endler types) although am looking for a new home for these as would like to stick to bigger fish. I am now thinking about setting up the 64L tank again and just keeping guppies and some more ottos in it, but the wife wants to sell it, since we dont really have the room. If i could get a bigger tank, maybe 400-500L, i would, as it would fit where the 240 is now.

I do however have an addictive personality, and as per suggestions above yes i do avoid gambling and drinking alcohol, just in case, as i never seem to do things by half!

Started with a 60l then upgraded to a Juwel Rio 180l which lasted for about 12 months before upgrading to a 300l. At the same time, we got a 130l off freecycle which is now my temperate tank. Along side these, we had two 60l Shrimp breeding tanks, a 40l Betta tank and a fry grow out tank for my Rhinogobius and Myersi fry. We are moving house before the end of the year so have scaled it down to the 300l and the 130l for now. Will be getting a 6x2x2 at some point soon though :hey: Excuse being that the fish neeeeeeddd it lol.
