I put some in my 10g and it has a bunch of white stuff on it. It's almost a jellyish/fuzzyish kind of thing. The driftwood has holes and every hole plus the top is full of this white junk. What is it and how can I avoid it??

I have never heard of this before but did you boil/soak the wood? This gets rid of any 'stuff' that may still be on it.
Soz I can't be of any help but good luck!

Yes, I boiled it for an hour or so. Plus it was from a petshop and is made for aquariums. I thought I read about it someplace...

I got a grey fuzzy mould type growth on mine shrtly after putting it in. It went after a few days though, no apparent problems with the fish.

I read it was a fungus, not to worry the bacteria would eventually out compete it and it will go away. Keep up with partial water changes

I soaked mine for a week and every day, i would fill up the container with hot tap water anmd i owuld pour boiling water over it

i've had no fingus grow on mine and it's been in over a week now

I had a little grayish white fuzz grow on my driftwood when I first set up my tank. I was more concerned with cycling it than worrying about fuzz or algae. I actually forgot all about it until reading this thread. Maybe yours will just go away, too.

yvez9-mine was in way over a week when I saw the white fuzz.

I'm pretty sure the driftwood has been in there for about a month now, maybe a little less. The fuzz just gets bigger and bigger. I might try brushing it out and maybe it won't grow back so thick.

Thanks everyone! :)
