Hi everyone,
Finally got the point where i have another tank but as always things have moved on so wanting some advise even if i don't like it :D

So i have a 60Litre Juwel Primo 60 kit with sand and have just started a fish less cycle.
Tank is now up to temp so have added my first does of Tetra Cycle to kick start the process. Reviews were good so i bit and hope it works in some way to help reduce the time to cycle as i dont have anyone to help with established media.
I'm pretty happy with the process of cycling and the amount of testing and water changes needed but its stocking that i need some help with as there are so many different answers when i have been looking.

Is my tank size suitable for guppys and corys? My initial research says yes (so the reason for going with sand rather than gravel) but needs to be a small number of both.
I'm not set on one species over the other just something that will be good in a tank of this size and wont be too crazy to keep as i really want to get my kids involved in the process. If anyone has any other ideas then please fire away
There are no plants in the tank at the moment as everywhere is sold out and i would rather have no plants than go to pets at home so i'm holding out for now but would like some real plants in there.

Corydoras need at least 6 in the tank in order to be happy. I don't know if you can have 6 in your tank, it might be just fine, but I will leave others to decide that.

Guppies would be fine.

As for the plants I would highly recommend Aquarium Co Op if you are in the USA. However, from your use of liters, I would guess that you are not in the USA so this doesn't help you lol. If you DO live in the USA though, they have fast shipping, high quality plants, they arrive healthy, and they sell a lot of other good stuff if you happened to need something else.

Good Luck and Welcome to The Forum!!!!!!!

I would not recommend 6 corys in a tank your size unless you are going for a dwarf cory. Even the smallest corys would be cramped in the (31cm)12" x (61cm)24" footprint of the tank. Dwarf corys are super active and depending on the variety they will be all over the tank instead of just the bottom, plus you can put at least 12 in the tank, with corys the more the merrier (regardless of size).

Guppies should be OK, hoping you are going for males. Mix in some females and you will have a never ending baby factory with no predation to control the population.

In a 60 liter tank you can do something like pygmy cats and clown killifish assuming you have soft water. Start off with 6 of each and they should breed. If you want guppies just have guppies and let them do their thing, put a couple of cool snails with them.

Welcome.
Check the fish you fancy on seriouslyfish.com. Tank sizes, water temps, tank mates etc all scientifically researched by some of the finest minds in fishology. Not mine by the way.

Agree, that is my go to site when researching for a new tank or new additions.

Actually, I would recommend buying Pets@Home Tropica plants. They are grown in vitro and transported / sold in sealed packets so no risk of carrying parasites, snails, algae etc. Unlike the fish which could be unhealthy. However they are probably sold out. ☹️

Agreed. Pets at home are the only good for plants. I bought six or so in early jan in anticipation of the brexit fiasco interfering with supply. I knew even when queuing that I should’ve bought the lot.

Thanks for the welcome and yes I totally forgot that I signed up am that time ago ?

Never thought I would hear Pets at Home recommended though. I could call in when I met go shopping to have a nosey.
I will check some tank mates though now I know I can trust that website.
Full test kit has arrived today so will be good timing to see what stage it’s at with something accurate.
