Well, I came back to the rainbows scattered around the place. So much about schooling :) It's amazing how differently they behave in a different tank. They were all bunched up in the "plastic" tank when on their own. If one can tell fish can be excited, I for sure can for these little guys. One day if I get rid of the platies, I may get some of your kind too. I looked up but they don't sell them anywhere at the moment.

Here is a poor picture and a video. Sorry it's a bit jumpy in the beginning and I am still battling the green spot algae. They are mostly in the left of the tank. They are too small to really see so I had to zoom in.

Looking good

. For them to be scattered all over the place they must be feeling pretty good about the tank, in the wild young blue eyes are usually in tight little groups but then they are being eaten by everything bigger than them.
I think apart from thier body colour and unsual finage its the starling blue of their eyes that got me hooked on blue eyes

I think my poor blue eyes would be quite happy without the endlers in the tank, the endlers seem to want to always hang out with the bigger blues eyes.

Yeah, my guppies joined them immediately too and started to show off. Instant love

I am not a fan of the bigger rainbows but these types are really gorgeous. The blue eyes are a striking view in reallity. I'll get some day from the type you have and there's another couple similar rainbows. Beautiful fish really. One of the males was kicking everyone away from his own spot, which was the center of the tank

And it tells you how much they love plants and a lot of hiding spots around the place compared to them bunched up in a corner in a bare tank with just some driftwood at the bottom which they didn't appreciate at all.

Yes they certianly do like plants, especially thin leafed Val. Mine seem to like the parrots feather plant and if what ever keeps smashing my moss would leave it alone I am sure the blue eyes would like that too. I have seen some great biotype tanks for blue eyes and rainbows. Some nice drift wood or goldvine with heavy plantings of tall trailing val.
I am pretty sure that your type of blue eye is a plant spawner, and will spawn in mop heads or spawning mops. Sadly I am pretty sure my type are gravel spawners so if I am going to have a chance at breeding them it will have to be in a catfish/ loach and guppy free tank.
It certianly is eye opening the first time you see the glowing shiney electric blue of a blue eye in the flesh

I might go to one of my local creeks this afternoon now the water should have slowed down through it and see if I can find some fly specked hardy heads or even better some local blue eyes. I can always get some more gudgeons too.

I am so jealous. I had to travel 3 hours to get mine and pay for it

And they only had the one type. Locally, I can't buy a thing, not even a filter because they are literally double the price compared to somewhere else. Not to mention I've got no choice at all besides the most regular types.
The rainbows are Australian thing, aren't they?

We do have a lot of rainbows, so does Pupua New Gueniea and I think there is some south American varieties too.
