I have a couple of the Aquel Unbreakable heaters and I prefer them to the glass ones. The heater you can see in the picture is not actually 'covered' its just the pattern on the glass of the heater.
Yes the Aquel Unbreakable heaters are nice, and they were only a few bucks more than 2 glass heaters. Glass heater was 38 dollars each in LFS, The Aquael was 42 bucks each on line.
I just can not get over how truly stunning these fish are, especially now they are really settling into the tank. Just this morning I saw them swimming about with the tank lights off and only a bit of outside daylight coming through the open door. WOW, so pretty and I don't regret getting them for a second. If I see anymore I may add to their number, and if I cant I will be trying to spawn these beautiful fish.
Photographing them is still sheer hell, since they are either just silver blurs because they zoom past so fast and so reflective or shimmering stripes of blue as once again they dart out of shot in the last second. With a bit of luck the amazing red tail and fins might show up in a shimmering photo, but as frustrating as they are I love them.
Sadly I lost one of mine recently. Her tummy bloated and I suspect she was egg bound. I may get another few to add to my shoal soon, as soon as my Panchax are out of Q/T.
I now am the proud owner of 16 of these living gems, an online fish shop was actually selling them cheaper each for a group of 5 than what the local shop (that only had the one off order of) had sold them for each. Basically for 10 I paid less than I paid for the original 6, of course there was still postage costs involved but I still feel well worth it, especially knowing that I would probably never see them for sale locally again.
They have all buddied up now and zoom from one end of the tank to the other as a mass group which is lovely to see.
Nice fish Baccus, Is that New Life Spectrum pellets Is see on the leaf? My fish love it, Mollies. Platies and the Firemouths, and my Betta is just a pig on NLS.
Honestly they could be any number of different crumble/ pellet type foods, my fish/ tanks tend to get a varied mix of foods from dry tropical flakes through to pellets and wafers to defrosted live foods even live foods like live bloodworms and mosquito wrigglers.
