I've just had to euthanise my black shark.
he had become more and more aggressive in the tank and i have asked all my local shops if they'd take him,
all said no. I even posted him in the buy sell forum as free to a good home but to no avail.

today my apollo sharks had had enough of his bullying and ripped into him.
he was fine before I went to make a coffee, busily chasing the sharks, but when I came back he was on the bottom
with half his face missing. :/

at least the bichirs may come out more now.

brave descision wolfy

you know where i am if you need a chat

Oh that's such a shame Wolf. Like Miss Wiggle says, brave discision. At least you know it wasn't through any fault of yours and you did your best to try and rehome him.

thanks.
I guess the reason for this post is to warn others about black sharks.
they maybe fine for a while but they become more and more nasty as they get older.
it just so happens that I had mine with apollo sharks that gave worse than they got.

If anyone is thinking about getting a black shark, think very carefully.
then don't buy it, it is just not worth it in the long run.

Can Totally Undestand your decision.

Had to do the same with fish that suddenly turned on tank mates.

What exactly is the "black shark" look like? Cause I know a lot of things can be confused with different things sometimes.

Sorry it came to that.

it was the same thing with my red tailed shark, he was such a big bully but there was noone to put him in his place so i ended up taking him back to the lfs. luckily they took him.

sorry that you couldnt find a home for it :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-(

As a beginner, I had to return my labeo chyrpsiwotsit due to the same (that and him being in a 5gal) loads of personality but a nightmare for tank mates.
Before he was returned i had a nippy angel in my main tank, stuck the angel in the 5gal with the black shark, had to drag it straight back out, and it honestly never nipped again.
Lovely fish, shame they are such a nightmare.
Sorry for your loss.

Nope, its a labeo chrysophakedion, common name black shark.

The red tailed is a leabeo bicolor methinks? :dunno:

Aquatic badgers?
Hmm...
I know but it somehow seems more friendly.
I might try and find some anthrax, just for you wolfy as you've had a hard day.
