Greetings!

I'm a complete newbie, even to fish, so please be gentle. :) When I was a very little girl, my Daddy owned a tropical fish store, and set up aquariums in movie theatres and large offices. When I was a young bride, he set up half a dozen aquariums in my apartment, allowing me to choose "that pretty fish!" from his retail stock, until necessity dictated an additional tank. Occasionally, a rare beauty arrived as a "gift" with his larger orders, and he always gave me the special fish. I had no idea what the cost of fish, chemicals, aquariums, stands, accessories, and everything was. I'm beginning to get an education, now.

Once a week (unless there were problems with the fish) he would visit "to take care of the fish ;) and it always amazed me that he could simply look at the tank and know what to do! I had salt-water and fresh-water tropical fish. He carried a little black bag (really!) that was filled with countless bottles, droppers, nets in sealed bags, and who knows what else?

Today, I have three brand-new Bettas, and I am completely lost! Daddy's been gone for more than a decade, and what appeared to be an effortless task has me stymied! I'm so glad I found you folks. Now, I think I'll wander over to the BETTA forums to get some answers to those burning questions!

Best,

Myrrh

:thanks: SO much!
I'm swimming around in all the amazing posts here :fish:
Thrilled with the "community" I've stumbled upon :yahoo:
Loving the animated emoticons even an idiot such as myself can put into these posts
And a little bit lost... :dunno:

:-( And maybe this is where I find out that I am "off topic" :-(
 Though I promise to try to do better in the future!

But I do have one question that's pretty general: When I tried to use your live chat, I got an error message from my security settings that the certificate for the chat was either out of date or not yet active, and that it wasn't safe for me to use the chat facility. Can anyone tell me what the deal is with that?

Oh! And one more... I'm having a whale of a time  (sorry!) trying to find responses to my posts-- er-- at least the one post I made! When I ask to see my last 10 posts, I'm directed to the post itself, but cannot find an easy way to see if there are responses. :/ Where's the "I'm an idiot!" emoticon? :byebye:

Advanced Thanks!
Myrrh :flowers:

I'm not sure about the chat thing. I know for me I have never been able to get that to work either. It always says that the java error has occured.

I know I love the emoticons!! Their so much fun!!! :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

As for you trying to find the posts you made. You can adjust your settings at the bottom of a fast reply...it says "Enable email notification of replies". You check that box in either the fast reply or the Add Reply box. This will allow you to know when you get a new post or response.

have fun!! :fun: :fish: :fish:

:thanks:
I think I'm beginning to be able to find my way around here. :)

 Now, if only I can figure out how to set up my profile!
