Noisy Filter Pump

Hi Everyone, I am a new member, joining to attempt a solution to my problem.
I have a Juwel Rio 180 litre tank, with the 600 filter pump supplied with the tank. My problem is that the pump is quite noisy in operation, giving out a continuous drone. I often have to sleep on a mattress in the room where the tank is situated when I have guests, or grandchildren staying, and the noise is loud enough to keep me awake, despite a lifetime of sleeping through other noises!
Can anyone suggest a way to quieten the pump, I've tried moving it so it is not touching the 'hole' in the filter housing, but beyond that I can't do anything else.

Have you tried cleaning the impeller? If not add some Vasline to the impeller shaft it may quiten it down if not return it to your lfs you get a long warranty on jewels and im sure they will change it.

I had the same problem when I got my Rio 125. I tried everything I could think of, even a new pump. It still sounded like someone running an ancient diesel engine right outside the window.

In the end I gave up and got a different filter. The built in one does come out quite easily.
