Hi

My Eheim 2028 has suddenly started to make a dull drilling kind of noise, like a "hum" it's noticeable as normally my Eheim 2028's (I have 3) are completely silent (or almost completely silent).

I've checked it and cleaned the impellor, but still got that "hum" that i'm not used to.

Any tips to reduce this noise?

Cheers

Hi m8 long time no speek ;)

No bubbles coming from the outlet pipe?

Also try getting a brush to clean the pipe's as water may be restricted.

haha, hello matey, yeh long, long time!

Thanks for the advice. I will check the pipes, i think they are quite mucky, do you think it might be due to the pipes, is the outflow not clear enough for the pump perhaps?

It's doing my head in actually. The noise started after the last water change. I turned the filter off as it splashes too much. When i turned it back on, the noise started.

What do you reckon is the best way to clear pipes?

Best way is with pipe cleaning brush it's about a meter long and cleans the pipe's

The reason about the bubbles from out lit pips is some times the seal go's and sucks in air, this will give bubbles in the outlet pipe

Have you checked the rubber bushes on either ends of the ceramic impeller shaft.
Are they worn, and are they seated correctly.

I might get some new pipes actually if it doesn't cost too much!

Thanks for advice, will have a look tomorrow and update, thanks

A pipe brush would be cheaper and save replacing perfectly good pipe, i got mine for £5 i ting and pipes would be similar price

It turns out one of the small black plastic parts that go either side of the impellor was missing and by some strange fluke i found it on my floor about 10 feet away from the filter :hyper:

I think the part is known as an Axle bearing?

Once i fitted it back on, all was well :good:

Thanks for taking the time to advise me on this
