Nitrite Nitrite Nitrite!

Just did a test today, less than 12 hours after a 90% water change and got these crazy results. I am absolutely sure it's not the test kit or my tap water screwing up the results. The amazing thing is that I've only one loss through all these, and that I did not once observe them gasping for air on the surface.

Since I've considerable amounts of all three elements, do I assume that I have too much waste in the tank that's converting? I definitely do not have an undersized filter as my tank is only filled with about 3-3.5Gs of water, and it's been 6 days since the cycle started.

Apologies if this has been asked earlier in the post but are you adding any chemicals to drchlorinate the water? If so is this a branded bottle or something similar to the 'shady' bacteria bottles you mentioned above.

If it is branded what is it and how much are you adding.

I have no idea if this could be the cause but ruling out everything one by one looks like the only way.

I'm using Seachem Prime right now (took me 3 LFS to find it), 1.5x the usual dosage for extra toxicity reduction (seems that 5x is the limit), and nothing else.

So that would be around 7ml every full water change? If so then that shouldn't be causing any problems!

It's actually just 0.5ml for a 100% change! 5ml treats 50 gallons, and I'm using 10 drops from a dropper assuming that 1ml = 20 drops.
