My tap water is testing at 20ppm nitrates. What gives?

I can recommend floating plants, terrestrial plants like pothos or lucky bamboo... ive been trying out some dandelions floating with foam too. Also API Nitrazorb.

These help for me. I have nitrates in my tap water too, but im in a city so i have no clue why i have it either.

Well, they’re back down now. That was weird. I have water lettuce, moss balls, anacharis, amazon swords, and anubias in there. Oh, java fern too.
