Nitrates after three and half weeks.

Hi all...sorry for the retorical, but just kind of talking outloud. I'm finally getting a nitrate reading (very small) after cycling my tank with fish for a good 3-3.5 weeks. This is normal and a sign that the cycling is processing properly...am I right?


(This might actually help out the other post about not getting nitrates after 1 week of fishless cycling. )

Yes you're right. One reading alone however will not normally give you an accurate reading. You need to test your other water parameters also.

What are ammonia and nitrate readings?
