Hello all, a little guidance please. The nitrate level in my mains water supply in the test I did today is between 40/80ppm, so frequent water changes would not appear to make very much difference to the residual value that is in my tank. Any recommendations by anybody would be appreciated. I have just seen advertised by Tetra a product called Nitrateminus which is granules that are added to the gravel, anybody had dealings with this? S.

Hello i dont live that far from you, im near cambridge and my tap water nitrate is 40, 40 is maximum for the tank so i dont bother messing with it. But if it goes above then my test kit say you can buy a product called nitrasorb. Hope that helps, but i will let more experience people answer your question as well :) .

Also there is a juwel nitrate sponge you can buy, but don't no how good they are as I have never used them.

Actually my new tank, which I'm doing a fishless cycle on, is a Juwel Trigon 190, but at the moment I can't comment on how good or bad their nitrate removal sponge is as it's still cycling. S.
