Nin's Tanks

Thank you so much Ch4rlie & Blondie!

I really hope you're right about the tank being good for the shrimp. I was so worried as for a while there he was scrounging around on the substrate and that is supposed to be a sign there aren't enough nutrients in the water for it.

We added some..water sprite I think it's called?

Between the wood & bridge decoration. Other than that I've no idea what to add.
I still havn't put in the root tabs as I'm not sure where to put them.

It has crossed my mind to change the background but the only time that we would've been able to do this would've been with the substrate change.
Too much of a hassle on us & the fish to empty it again and move the tank in order to put in a different background.

Do you mean the line going down between the filter and heater intake? If so that is because they didn't make the background in a 48" size for some reason..or at least we didn't find one that was.
I was dead set on the "asian bridge" background, so..we got two of them and tried our best to make it look connected. That line was covered up by the heater until I was told it's not good to have heaters in a totally vertical position.

I personally don't even notice the background anymore as I'm too busy staring at the fish, but imagine it is a bit distracting for others.

Some pics of the 20g Long.

A few days after I made this topic, I decided to take the decorations out to check exactly how many habrosus cories we had.
They had been steadily dying since we got them (originally purchased 15), and I thought we were down to 8. We were at 3.

I found two dead before taking these pictures

The water has come out fine each time I tested. I just wanted to explain why there is only one cory pic, and no video, as there is little activity.

^Sorry for that being a bit depressing!

Sorry no good pics of Discord, due to the floating plants the light is blocked at the front of the tank and in the sides/corners.
He does not go to the middle of the tank usually and of course when I come up to take pics he comes to the front and just looks black

I especially love that pic with the Bamboo Shrimp moult and the cory, a great one for comparison in sizes! wow!

Thanks! Didn't even think of the comparisons when taking it
blush.png

Have removed it since taking those and the video as it got broken up and was obvious the shrimp didn't want any. Actually am not sure if he could have any of it anyways since he feeds on particles in the water with his fans..
Also not sure if it's a he. I thought the front legs were thick, making it a he..then I saw one yesterday at my LFS. Now THAT had some thick legs! Scary :p

I was right! But sad I didn't get to watch him do it. I hope that this means he is getting sufficient food and growing in my tank!

Awesome Nin!

Thinking you are quite correct in saying that Bamboo Shrimps don't eat their moults like Red Cherrys do for example.

Since they do not have claws, just fans, think are unable to actually eat moults

As for sexing bamboo shrimps, think again, you have done your homework right, males have enlarged front legs that appear to be adorned with tiny spikes. Whereas female bamboos just basically have normal legs.

Ooh I didn't notice any spikes, but his front legs are thicker..but went back and looked at the pics, it looks like he might have a spike? I will love it no matter the gender but I do prefer it to be a boy!

Has been a while! Lots of pics to show

Lone Habrosus - Will be picking up some sterbai cories this weekend hopefully. I know they're not his kind but I don't feel comfortable trying habrosus again due to all the deaths.
