We've said a sad goodbye to one of our Adtrader rescue babies today (came to us at one day old in May 2005), Alice the agouti rex finally gave in to a long battle with myco this morning. I found her minutes after she died, she just looked like she was sleeping. Her mum and sister were looking after her (Mavis and Millie were more interested in their brekkie), she was still warm and soft so I was able to give her a cuddle...sorry probably TMI for lunchtime, it's just..well..it was nice to be able to do that.

Night night Alice, not yet 2, but such a brave girl who fought very hard to overcome her illness, there was even improvement over the last week (she put on some weight - she was eating and grooming this morning before she died). We'll miss you and your cheeky face and antics.

No more suffering, and you have your sister Evil Edna up there to keep you company. :-(

god the title of this topic confused me!!

so sorry though Lisa, goodnight and goobye to my namesake, may you rest in peace.

beautiful little girl and i'll nominate that 2nd to last pic for POTM in her memory

Awww, makes me teary and she's not even mine. I am so sorry for your loss, RIP little girl :byebye:

Bless her such a cutie. R.I.P.
I've got a tear in my eyes too.

Night night Alice, sleep tight.

So sorry for your loss. I lost a girl to myco on new years day, it was just so awful.

Thanks for all the kind comments folks - you're all lovely  :good:

Alice was technically my eldest daughter's rat, and out of the two older girls I thought the tears would be from her - but she was amazingly grown up - but we've been there before and she's not a little girl any more. She was very adult about it.

But my second daughter (9) was devastated. I couldn't stop her crying all day, even when she was nodding as I was explaining how she's not suffering any more, she was just so gutted. It was kind of weird - as I never expected it from her as she's never been that hands on with the rats whereas my eldest helps out a lot and loves handling them.

Bless her. Anyhoo, as usual with kids their age, all is forgotten now, and they still have the others for snuggles (well, apart from Millie the rescue husky and general finger nipper lol - she's a grown ups only rat).

Thanks again for all the kind messages. :friends:

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone for their messages and also for voting for her in the March POTM comp (2nd place, wahoo - not bad!). Also I wanted to add that Angelina, Alice's sister, passed away this week - it was a true shock as despite her stroke a while ago, she was perfectly healthy. I found her buried in the bedding with her mum and cage mates guarding her, keeping her warm :(

So night night Angelina, hope you're with both of your sisters now. Your mum and brother will miss you.
