Newbie Stuff

confirmed what i thought there ski thanks mate again any reccomendations ?

Never heard of eco therm heaters so I cant comment there. I will say though that for lighting if you just want easy corals, you'll be fine with one of those fixtures. If you want to get into difficult LPS or other high-light corals you'll need to go to 4 tubes (2 retro kits)

would it be ok in like a year or 6 months to add a refugium and/or sump to this if i decide its a good idea or would the tank have to be emptied and drilled. thanks james

Well James, you can use an overflow box instead of drilling, but it might be smarter to drill it now, install a bulkhead fitting, and just cap it ;) That way if/when you decide to go with a sump/refugium you just hook up your plumbing and go :D

good call. will look for the drilling a tank guide on here any plumbing parts reccomendations

for a 30" tank is the 2 ft model ok for my tank as im not so sure that the biger one will fit and also what bulbs in each thanks james.

Do you mean is it OK for a sump? Dunno, gotta measure the area under the stand to find that out ;). As for lighting, Id look into T5s, a single halide, or PCs

and the hanging kit. does any one have any experience with these and how high above the tank would it need to be as i am in the process of the final design for the hood before i head off to the local hard ware store for wood etc

If you are going to go the halide route, I'd drop down to a 175watt lamp, 250 might be overkill on a 30" nano ;)

cool will do. plan on buying this straight after xmas along with the heater then ls and lr *yay* very excited about this.

Ah, the venerable Arcadia fixtures. Great pic in the UK from what I hear :D

I know that this must be annoying getting me asking probabely stupid questions but i'd rather look like an idiot :stupid: and get it right than kill aload of fish  im trying to put together a final shopping list now seeing as my long suffering mum appears to have been bitten by the reef bug lol and now likes the idea of coral etc apparently it will be something to show visitors and amaise her friends :/ *oh god* :X

Skimmer, never used it. Is that a re-badged Tunze nano skimmer?

Lights, those are fine, so long as you buy tubes that are long enough :)

Salt, I use plain old IO

RO unit, get one from Osmotics. They're a site sponsor so you get 10% off :). I'm sure Miss Wiggle and BigIan would be happy to reccomend the model they just bought.

Sand, as long as its aragonite or reef sand the rest is just looks

Refractometer good

Powerhead good

what kind of heater do you have?
