Hi,

I have a 'spare' 15g tank which i'm looking at possibly setting up as a marine tank. I have at the moment - the tank, heater, light hood + light and a fluval filter. It has been used for coldwater so far but the heater and light were bought so i could turn it into a tropical tank.
Having read some of the posts in this section i'm wondering if i should just pack up and go home - so to speak?
Is it possible to run a marine tank without sumps, etc. or what is the minimum requirements to run a marine tank & is it possible to have everything inside the tank (as with tropical/coldwater)?

Thanks for any help offered :)

I run a 10 gal nano reef with a HOB filter, 2 powerheads and an auto-topoff i DIY'd.
Although i have been wanting to add a refugium to get the heater and HOB filter out of the tank, i don't have the room. My tank has been up and running since April 1st this way with no losses (except 2 snails that were unfortunately killed for their shells by hermits). Head to nano-reef.com for some great reading on creating a smaller reef.

I have a 10 gallon, no sump. It has an anemone, hermits, 2 fish, tons of feather duster, xenia and some zoos. Its been running for almost 2 years. But since its such a small tank, it is a lot of work.
