Newb, Over 100 Hatched And 1 Week Old

Good job, felix300zx  You have a healthy and fine looking batch of fry there!

That video was great. Now I know what to look forward to.

I don't have nearly as many fry and mine aren't as active (they just hatched sometime Sunday night / Monday morning). But there's a couple of things I've learned already, listen to Drewry; no plants, gravel, etc. in the tank. Although the plants give cover and supply oxygen, they also make a mess of the bottom and makes it harder to clean up. I tried to clean up the bottom with a siphon made from an air hose but still managed to suck up 3 fry. Good thing I was siphoning into a white plastic pail.

Congrats on your success.

Today there are 2 weeks old.
Well so far over that last few days we lost about 20 - 30 fry, they seemed like the weaker ones of the bunch. It all seemed to happen at once, wasn't sure if they didn't eat enough or the water went bad on certain days, though i still change the water everyday. Well there is still anywhere from 70-100 fish. I'll try to count them when i move them sometime next week. Some are starting to get really large compared to some of the others, and are starting to show a green tint to them. You can also start to see the eyes better now, they're not black dots anymore, they look like their parents eyes.

MORE BABYS

Today they're a month old, and we've still got over 100 strong. Since they hatched about a total of 35-50 have died, was mostly in the earlier weeks. Haven't had any die in about a week or so. Well last weekend we moved the tank and had to make a water change and what do you know she laid eggs the next day. I was gonna leave them there to become caviar because she usually eats them right after or later. But she actually ate a few and left the rest to mature. Well Wednesday night i check the tank and the eggs were really dark, i'm think they're gonna hatch soon, so scrap them on and into a jar they go temporarily. And about five hatched as soon as i but them in the jar, when i got back from work thursday night about 70 or so hatched. Man our corys definitely like getting busy... lol

Well our older fry are going into a 10g for the time being. Anyone know how big/old the fry will have to be before i can bring them to a fish store... i'm gonna try to find some lfs that will take them. I'm gonna try to take some vid and pics of them tonight for another update. Some are huge and some are still really small, not sure why. Some are starting to develop some of their lower fins.

Grat's on your success.

What are you feeding the adults, Viagra? :p It was obviously the water change that stimulated them. That tends to do it for mine.

Not sure about the age question but I haven't seen any Corys being sold around here that are less then 1".

My LPS asks that they be 1" minimum. I may fudge on pandas though. But mostly I am long taking them in and they are much bigger. Sometimes they are ready to spawn! LOL. I am very unorganized.
