New Tropical Marine Tank, Help Me Please

Hi i have just set up my first tropical marine tank and to tell you the truth i dont know alot. i thought i did but then i started researching and i dont know what is right and what isn't. c

can some one tell me how long i should wait before i put fish in my tank. and what should i put in?

I have a 2 1/2 foot tank with a deep sand bed and a protein skimmer with 3 1/2 kgs of live rock.

Welcome to the forum! Just as in freshwater, you will need to test for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. You can lightly feed the tank each day, and over the course of a couple of weeks you will see ammonia spike, then go to zero, nitrite will spike, then go to zero, then you will see nitrate spike, it's at this point that your cycle is over, and after getting nitrates under control you can then add fish. I would skim while cycling your tank (some people do not, so that is why I mention) Use this thread to ask as many questions as you need. I encourage you to use the search function as well, that can be a wealth of information!

yer basically the same dude, just make sure uve got nice SG of salt water and right temp then just w8. tbh the filter wont mature properly till like 6 months down the line lol but if u wnt to speed up the main maturation use a cycling product to boost the growth of bacteria i did! but dont think just cos its ready dont mean u cn chuck in loads of fish.

my advice is take some small damsels or chromisis after its ready then take time add more in but slowly. gd luck m8

Yeh i have 3 1/2 kg of live rock. and my deep sand bed is about 130 mm deep

OMG that is almost 6" deep, why are you running it so deep

You will defo need more Live Rock that that - IMO you will need to add another 10 15 kg (What is the volume of the tank BTW)
