Hi, I found this by accident as I was looking up shrimp behaviour. I have 3 tanks, a 61 ltr which is a very old glass tank, a 45 ltr which is new and working well, and the tropical tank which is 101 ltr and also not very old. having said about the new tanks I have been fish keeping for a long time and my old tanks were replaced during the lockdown. All the fish are well and the tanks are healthy, the 45 is the guppie tank with 4 shrimps which is new to me, I haven't had them before, the 61 was given to me a couple of years ago when my friend was clearing out her garage and before that it was a classroom tank for children, it is strong and sturdy and I don't know how old it is but it's great for the goldfish. My 3rd tank the 101 was to replace the leaking one with tropical fish, gouramis, congo tetras, green tiger barbs and a bristlenose plec. I look forward to reading the post because it doesn't matter how long you've been keeping fish, you can always learn more.

Welcome to the forum :) Nothing wrong with an older tank, I buy mine second hand since brand new tanks are so expensive, and I'm pretty new to the hobby. I'd rather spend that extra cash on hardscape and plants. Might buy a brand new tank whenever the time to set up my dream tank comes along, but we shall see...

I hope you'll share photos and talk about your tanks! I love seeing other forum members aquariums.

Welcome
Personally i wouldnt put tiger barbs which are known nippers with congos which have long nippable fins but youre not the first person ive heard of keeping barbs with congos though personally id avoid the potential risk.
Good luck welcome aboard!:)
