I just started my tank and have a few questions, but here's my setup:

55g tank
40lbs lr and 15 lbs base rock
2 Maxi Jet power heads 600
crp bakpak 2r skimmer
48' 4x65w current usa pc dual satelite( dual daylight and dual actinic)

My first question is can I add base rock after the tank is cycled with out it affecting water parameters?

What Corals could I keep with my lighting set?

Can I add base rock without affecting water parameters?

Yes, just make sure there is nothing that could "die off" and add amonia to the tank. Even if there is a small amount the most that would happen is a mini cycle and your water tests should detect it.

What corals can I keep under these lights?

Almost anything. Some of the more light loving SPS, clams, and anemones might not thrive without additional MH lighting. LPS, softies, and some SPS will be fine under those though. Plenty to get you started.

I would think about getting more flow in the tank, 2x 600's is only 1200lph max in a 208l tank I don't think it will be enough. try taking them back or selling them and get two of the 1200 witch will be 2400lph max ten you'll good.

Thanks guys for your answers, I am going to try and post pics as I go. If there anyone else has comments, it would be appreciated.

Thanks

I agree with what Crazyelece said completely. Also, I'd like to put in that you should be adding a couple more powerheads for flowrate. MJ600s dont really put out that much. Flowrate is ESSENTIAL to keeping corals happy. Without it, they'll suffer from lack of gas exchange and whither away.

Do you think just adding one mj 1200 to my existing 600's would be enough flow?

That would get you pretty close to the mark I think. Still prolly a little low. 2 MJ1200s would prolly be the best.

Thanks Ski, I am ordering a couple 1200 today. My tank is still cycling so I have plenty of time.
