I set out today to go to Petsmart to get a few things to change my 10gal setup.
Before
Housing 3 Bettas, one on each side of the divider and then one in the hanging (hard plastic) basket. Well, I felt sorry for the poor fish in the basket so I went to get another divider (the pre-fab ones, I'm not big on permanent like the DIY ones!). Actually, I swung by Michael's (the craft store) thats next door to Petsmart and picked up a few sheets of the canvas and used it in place of the thin plastic sheet that comes with the pre-fab ones. (but I'm getting off track, somewhat).
Anyway, I was just going to get one more divider, but then when I got there, I got to thinking and changing my plans, so I got 2 more instead.
Now my tank is divided into 4 compartments with a new Whisper 10i internal filter, an air stone on each side, a heater (of some sort, it's old and I don't remember anything about it, other than it is for a 10gal tank), and new silk plants.
After
What do you guys think??
Also, while I was at Petsmart, I of course had to look at the Bettas. Just to see what they had I told myself. First of all, the Petsmarts around here all use the small cups and the Walmarts all have the bigger bowls.
For example:
Petsmart on the left, and Walmart on the right
Anyway, they had about 30 Bettas, nobody looked sick or sulky or obviously injured. One guy caught my eye though and I had to bring him home because with my new tank setup (above) I had an empty slot to fill (the mind works in mysterious ways
).
What caught my eye was his coloring. All the other Bettas that I've seen in LPS's around here pretty much all have dark colored fins, but this guy's were white/transparent. So home he came! He's a cool little dude, and very fiesty!
Introducing.....Brody!
Still in his cup
Checking himself out in his new tank
Stretching out all those fins
(he has a small chunk missing in the middle of his tail, but otherwise looks really healthy)
Taken with flash (above were taken with no flash)
What a color change!
(see my plastic canvas in there, I like the bigger holes for water flow as compared to the thinner sheet that comes with the pre-fab ones.)
I'm still new at this color guessing thing, I'm thinking Cambodian, or is he something else?
EDITED: with photobucket pics....
