Hey guys, just broke down (2) 55 gallon aquariums and got a 125 gallon aquarium to replace them!

Running a marineland c-360 and a c-530. Total output 890GPH.

Have about 20 to 25 african cichlids, mostly mbuna with a few haps, LFS picked out would work best with the mbuna. Also have a coupel peacocks, will see how that goes. I have 8 more mbuna being delieverd tomorrow morning for a total of 30-35 fish. The aquascape is crushed coral substrate and a mix of blue slate and larger rocks from a local nursery. Running 3 led lights up top.

Criticism and comments welcome.

I love it.. I want some of that slate!
It was $0.38 per lb at a nursery. I have about $25 worth in there. Way cheaper than lfs.

That's a great foundation for a spectacular tank, blu3s

I'm guessing you've got at least 30 kilograms of rock plus the combined weight of the tank and water which means you must have a lot of support underneath it

Are you planning to stock it with plants?

I'm already imagining how good it would look with an understated mix of broad-leaf plants and grasses

Well I hope the concrete can hold it because it's in the basement :)

I had a variety of fake plants but pulled them to give them more swimming room. I know next to nothing about live plants honestly.

It is roughly 400 lbs of rock, total weight roughly 1,700 lbs.

I'm sure there are folk around here who can give you some recommendations on how to plant it out if you're interested

It looks beautiful, tons of hiding places for the cichlids. c:
