My 20 gallon tank has been up and running for over a month now, and I cannot seem to get my nitrites to go down. I have lost multiple goldfish (4) and one disappeared (REALLY!). What can I do to lower them? Wait? The levels have been at 6 for a while, they peaked at around 7 a week or so ago and I figured they'd go down from there, but if they are they are taking their sweet time.
Thanks!

Nitirites can take thier time to go down.. daily/twice daily water changes of about 30% (others would know better the amount) will help to keep the nitrites down in the mean time. I did a fishless cycle, so im not so up to date on cycling with fish..

How many of which fish do you currently have in the tank, and have you been replacing the ones that died, or allowing the tank to settle?

Also, have you tested for nitrates? that will indicate if there is much of the nitrites being broken down or not..

Cheers
