Hi There, I'm hoping for a bit of help !!!!!

I've got two of the cutest goldfish in a small hexagonal aquarium, and recently I decide to upgrade them from their "Studio Flat" to a Juwel 190 Corner Aquarium "Penthouse" :D

I've cleaned the gravel pretty throughly, as well as the rocks and small logs I purchased.

I've had the filter running for about 12 hours now, the probem is the water is still quite cloudy, am I doing anything worng, is there any other things that maybe I could do to help get the water clean, should I perhaps empty the tank again, and re-fill it.

IF anyone could help I'd be very grateful, also the fish are bugging me for their "Moving in date"

Many thanks

Chris

:D

Most likely the new tank just needs to mature and settle, and the new filter needs to become established. This clouding sounds normal, and should go away on it's own with a bit of time. Also make sure you the fish are eating all that you give them, in this bigger tank food could get lost from the fish easier, and decaying food can have a big impact on cloudiness.

HI

Wow, quick reply !!!!

Thanks ever so much for your help i'll be sure to keep an eye on this

I haven't added my fish yet because I was rather worried about this, when would think it would be safe to add the two young fellows?????

Many thanks for your help ....

hello,

basically, dont add anymore fish until about 3-4 weeks, let the benificial bacteria grow (bacteria which eats amonia and turns it into nitrites, then a new bacteriia comes to make nitrates, which arnt as toxic) and then add more fish...
wait a minuite, what size, tank is this (gallons?) im guessing u only have 2 goldfish,, watch out for them, they grow big and theyre messy fishies, but also really cool :)

hope to hear from u soon

Hi Ahktar

It's a juwel 190l so 42 uk gallons i think

i have two small orandas (2.5 inches)

will they be ok to add now, and then others at a later date ???

Thanks for all the help !!!!

You haven't added new fish yet, I hadn't realized that.

You will have no problems adding the fish you currently own.

Try doing a couple of large water changes to see if that helps the cloudiness. Is it slightly cloudy or very thick?

Oh it's slightly cloudy .... I can easily see the back of the tank, and if you look at the water from above it's actually quite clear .....

The two youngs fellas are actually in a small Hexagonal tank, I was hoping to add them this evening, and maybe add one more fish later in the week ....

the cloudiness is very normal for new tanks. initially might just be particles, but also over the next week or two bacterial blooms as the tank establishes.

it will clear.

HI

I added my two fish last night, they seemed fairly scared and hid for most of the night

Also one of the goldfish seems to be suffering from "heavy breathing"

I've checked the amonia and nitrite levels both of which seem to be fine.

Sorry to keep banging on, I'm just a bit worried about them ....

Again thanks for all your help !!!!!
