I know some people dont like them, but i find the pulse to be superb to watch. Is there a real valid reason that these can soon become somewhat of a pest ?

Xenia can become a pest if their growth rate skyrockets... I just did my monthly scalpeling of the xenia in my tank...

I love the pulse coral I could sit and watch them for ages v nice

The coral tank at my work seems to have those pulsing xenia sprouting up in different places all the time. They are nice looking corals in my opinion.

and therein lies the problem

as skifletch says, the rate of progress of xenia through a tank is prolific

it does well in poor conditions... just think how well it does in good ones!

Problem??? I think things are a problem when they die back.Pulsing xenia is a really nice soft coral and extra unwanted growth is great for swapping/selling to get yourself more stuff or at least can be given away!!! Hardly a problem. Its not as if it quadruples in size overnight,extends a tentacle out of the tank and eats your cat

I agree. it has many benefits and also looks very attractive. Not too dificult to get rid of either but you do have to keep it in check every 2 months or so. I have 3 large cumps in my 100g and they look really stunning all moving in the current and my tomato clown like to host it too. Its also the easist thing in the world to frag and sell on
