Is it a snapping turtle or a red eared slider? They are known as the same thing but I hope you don't have an actual snapping turtle. Those things get huge and can break a tree branch in half with their mouth!!!
it looks like the baby snnapers we have at the lake here but it's got yellow on each side of its head, i've been looking for info on them, none have yellow on them, i'll try to get better pics tonight if i'm not working in the morning.
i used to have some turtles, one was a snapping and i had it for a few years and it started getting really big, almost to the point where it could tip over it's own tank, so i had to give it to the lfs (hopefully they could find a bigger tank for it)
well snaping turtles dont have any coloration on their heads realy and they have spikes on the back end of their shell..looks like a painted turtle to me..i also have one..
Yes she is a painted Turtle, looks like an Eastern Painted Turtle. I have 3 snappers, 1 of them I hatched from an egg. They other two are a little over 2 years old and are getting mighty big. They are much fun though. I would never handle them, even though they seem to like me and come up to the front of the tank when I comke in the room, I still wouldn't risk it. I'll post some pictures of them. My 2 biggish ones names are Thunder and Thunda, the lil guys name is Lightning. Beautiful Turtle you've got there!
definately not a snapper... those things come crawling out of the pond all the time. they look like they're from the dinosaur age or something, all spiky and mean looking
