What do you plan on doing with the 36 guppies, they won't fit in your 29g tank even if it were empty. How do you plan on keeping them all? Also don't plan on giving them away, since that probably won't always work. Also, don't keep all of those minnows as they will make your tank harder for your other fish, and they will make your tank way overstocked. Plus they prefer colder temperatures which makes it harder for other fish.

I have taken this into consideration when they were born, I'm keeping 2 of the nicest looking males and 6 of the nicest looking females. The rest are getting given away to friends and family that have agreed to take some. Thanks for the feedback!

Then they'll breed like crazy and you'll have the exact saame problem.

My sister has a tank she keeps the females I keep the males, I have more males than females at the moment so I don't want my sister to have only 2 females seeing that guppies like to be in groups.

Yes I agree with TalTree. How about trying to give away all  of your females and just sticking with the 4 nicest males for example. That way you won't need to worry about them breeding like crazy. And when giving them away to your friends and family, make sure they go to proper homes. Are your friends and family all prepared with fully cycled tanks when they receive them with a heater? Do your friends and family have a plan of what to do if the fish start breeding like crazy in there tank, or will they just let their tank get overstocked?

Guppies actually aren't as much grouping fish. The only rule I've heard is 2-3f/m, however if you have just 1m or 2f separately it's ok. It's when you start mixing them that you keep track, so your sister will be fine having just 2 females.

Thank you for your feedback, the fish are going to homes that already have an established tank.

Great to hear:). Just remember, unless you want a ton more babies (think 20+/month per female), then keep the males and females separate:).

I think that was covered in the previous posts, yes?

It was covered that they were being moved to friends/family, however, I was questioning whether his friends/family would have proper setups since my experience is most people when first starting to care for fish (no experience level was mentioned but I was assuming they weren't all experts), don't start the tank properly, so I was wondering what tank setups they would have and if it would be adequate for his guppies.

Thank you again for your concern/advice! :)

So has anything changed in your tank since the beginning of this thread?

I found out the name of the synodontis is Featherfin catfish, I don't know if that changes anything as to if I can keep it or not.

Edit: And we're getting rid of all the minnows, we have a local pond that has some small fish swimming around
