New Malawis

How big is your auratus? The thickness of the white stripes and color indicates that she's in breeding mode or an adult...... do you know the age of her?

1. Melanochromis Auratus

2. Sciaenochromis Fryeri, possibly a young male

3. Some type of Mbuna, not quite sure.

4. Same as 2, but maybe a young female?

5. Some sort of Melanochromis hybrid.

1. Melanochromis auratus--I think we all agree on this one :p
2. probably a fryeri like others have said
3. Difficult to tell, but it has Labidochromis characteristics--and probably female. (possibly a hybrid between a Lab. perlmutt or a Lab. caeruleus and a Lab. Hongi)
4. cant tell.
5. I agree with Aulonochromis on #5 of his/her list. However, there is possibility that the fish in the last pic (that could very well be a Melanochromis hybrid between an auratus and johanni) is maybe a male Melanochromis johanni in the process of changing from his yellow color to his blue-black color. Depends on his age.

:/

Thanks for all the info I think I have a slightly better idea of who's who!! I am taking a load of them to my LFS this weekend to trade so I'll see what they make of them!!
