So a lot has changed in about 6 months. I lost a few fish. But I still have Caius who is roaming the 60lt tank. He loves it :3 he's the fish in my avatar. He's got huge too. He does share the tank with 11 cardinal and 8 ember terra. With no issues at all. They respect him being there and avoid him at all costs. He even uses the game of 'playing dead' as I call it. He sits in my plants at the bottom resting and won't move unless the tetra get close enough then swims after them. It's rather amusing.

BUTTTT I bought another little guy. He's in a 25lt tank. Pre cycled with developed filter media from my old tank. I saw him and just could not walk away without him. He even got a brand new tank XD
He's small but very feisty. I'll be getting plants this week and some pre soaked wood, I'll also be looking at tank mates for him. He was in with Neon tetra, so I may get a few of those in two weeks or so.

Am no expert in stocking numbers but think in you 60l /16 gal tank you may be overstocked with 11 cardinals tetras and 8 ember tetras as well as the betta.
For a 60 litre / 16 gal tank you are looking at about 16 inch of fish for that tank. Tetras are about 1.25 inch, so times 19 is 23.75 PLUS your betta is not accounted for either

And a little more bad news, don't think you can have tetras in a new 25 litre tank as well as the betta, that tank is only 6.6 gals.

FYI, tetras dont do very well in new tanks, they tend to be better in established tanks.

Sorry to be a little negative, better you know now rather than later when you run into problems.

Yeah it's over stocked, but it's been that way, with no issues on illnesses for a while now. The filter's cope with it and weekly water changes also. And I'm looking at upgrading to 75lt at some point soon.

No worries. He just seems lonely. Once I fill it with plants it might not seem so big XD
Should I get Shrimp instead?
It's a new tank but old filter btw

Thats cool.

Shrimps MAY work with the Betta but really depends on his temperament and whether he'll tolerate shrimps.
You did say he's small but feisty so ....who knows.

A lot of Bettas do go after shrimps but there are exceptions of course.
Amano shrimps being larger than the normal cherry shrimps may have more off a chance perhaps

Great pic BTW.

If not I'll get snails, since there are a few in there but they are just pond snails XD
He's calmed down since I got him home. But in the shop he would tire himself out. Though he was next to a tank of bright mollies. That would Chase him back

Beautiful new boy!  I suggest you let him enjoy his tank by himself.  He will not get lonely and actually will be better off in that size tank without other fish.  Shrimp are a hit or miss since bettas will eat them but snails work out great.

Well I'm not going to get aanything. He's settled in fine. And he a very feisty :D

I even have a decent bubble nest today :D

He is BEAUTIFUL! Definitely wanting a Betta again after seeing him!

How has Caius been in your main tank? I'm hoping to have some cardinals guppies and cories and then later introduce a Betta if I have room and if he'll be ok with them.

Picking up a 60l tank this week to start out with :)

Guppies are a no go, they will either kill the betta or vise versa.
Cardinals if in a big enough group are fine. Cories should be okay
