Aren't all posts supposed to be helpful?
I was thinking more on a special section for emergencies etc. Otherwise anyone coming on here to ask for help will be buried in all the numerous sections and won't get answered.

I know I look in on the current help sections when they were at the top every time I come on but don't regularly check other sections.

Like the emergency section? LOL. I think you're getting at something more advanced then my smallish brain can get a grasp on. :)

Easily done, I realise, but I'm confused. There is a section for emergencies, and I know you know it. What are you actually suggesting be done?

All I was saying was that I think the first three sections under 'Freshwater & Brackish Aquaria Forums' should be given their own section and be the "assistance" section. The rest of the areas under here are for general discussion. Otherwise there is nowhere for members with Marine or Invert/Shrimp emergencies to post.

I got it now. Thanks for explaining. I think he's asking for a marine/ invertebrates emergency section.

Penny. Dropped.

I don't honestly think a separate section for marine invert emergencies would have enough traffic to make it even worth doing... do see your point in separating the first three though so they can be for marine OR freshwater..

Members pictures etc definitely need to be moved right up.

Good work with the improvements!

May I make a small suggestion?  You should keep the Newbie forum in the top-most section of the board where it is highly visible, otherwise I guarantee you will have newcomers posting in the Welcome and Announcements sections out of confusion!  The number of forums available is daunting to a newcomer and I know I didn't dare look beyond the first section for a few weeks at least!

One of the great attractions of this website is that it appears welcoming and friendly to newcomers and that's one of it's great advantages over competing sites.  Moving the Newbie forum out of the Welcome section might make more sense in terms of grouping but it has the effect of making the site feel less friendly and approachable to newcomers, to my mind.  I hope that makes sense!

Just as a quick aside, I believe that the whole site is named incorrectly.

The plural of forum is fora, just as the plural of medium is media. I demand that the owners immediately regsiter the URL www.fishfora.net forthwith and straight away. If not, sooner.

Okay...some good suggestions.

I moved the member photos up into the welcome section. I really don't feel like welcome is the right place for them but since contests are there as well I figured why not.

I created an area right under welcome specially titled "Beginner Starting Point". We can add other things later as need be but they should notice this section pretty well.

Also...fora would be correct if we were talking about a Roman forum or open market place BUT when we are talking about an Internet message board Forums is actually the accepted plural.

Keep up the good work Tcamos. We need a duck section for people with ducks :p

Do we need one? Don't yank my chain! Cuz I'll do it! Right in the "Other Pets Section".

Ha! You know what...I did it...we now have a forum called "Birds (Budgies to Ducks)"...under the "Other pets" area.
