New Important Information

Due the excessive space taken up by some signatures we have come to the decission to limit signatures to just 5 lines of standard sized text or one picture/gif (maximum size of 100k AND 400 pixels wide by 300 pixels high) and 2 lines of text, large text should be treated as a picture and limited to 2 lines. If your signature exceeds this please alter it to within the new guidelines ASAP. Failure to amend signatures will result in moderator edits.
Information regarding fish stocks and tank specs can be placed in the section provided for this in your personal profiles.

For those with large pictures they wish to keep this site [URL="http/www.irfanview.com/"]http/www.irfanview.com/[/URL] may be able to help with reformating them to a suitable size without loss of quality.

We are sorry for any inconvienience this may cause but of late signatures have become increasingly large and action has had to have been taken to rectify this.

You can right click on the image,then go to properties and it will show you how many pixels the image is.Yours are actually very small,so you can probably have the other 2 cats

The one cat is 45x63 pixels and your letters are only 18x18.

I've put the 11 lines of text (small) onto one picture 400x170...
Its only 5K

is that ok - or am I pushing my luck?

I would like to keep mine. It's something that defines me since my posts are all bland. I'll leave it to the mods and see if they have it within their hearts to leave my sig alone.

All I can promise is that it'll stay this long and won't get any longer. And I can delete the last line, if needed. Or perhaps a size 2.5 font?

I think the mods are able to edit your signature if need be

I agree, sigs are a good way of telling people about your tanks but some people abuse them by adding useless information which makes it fustrating for people to read threads and posts because the sigs take up half the page!

That's the whole purpose of this, so people don't have to clutter the forums up with numerous lines of tank details.

And I was reminded that sigs can also be hidden by means of "my controls".

Which unfortunately deprives those who want to see signatures and those who have a decent signature from having it viewed because others are too inconsiderate to keep their signatures small.

I don't mind most signatures that are a decent size but lately it's gotten so badly out of hand I disabled them just to reduce the meaningless large and annoying signatures on the pages. Some of them literally tripled or even quadrupled the length of a thread just being there and in every single post made.

Technically your cheating, it would be preffered if you would put your tank specs in the space provided in the profile

Sorry rules are rules, shortern it down to the 5 lines you like best or it will be done for you at some point. For the first week we wont be taking a heavy approach to allow people to amend sigs themselves but after that signatures will be subject to moderator edits.

They can indeed, but when everyone reffers to "the fish in my signature" it gets annoying having to switch them on and off just to try and help people. This way the people with small ammounts of tanks and fish can still display them in their signature if they wish but those with public aquarium sized collections wont be able to take up half a page.
