two weeks ago i purchased 3 female platies and 1 female guppy. a week ago the female guppy had fry. i put all i caught with 8 other fry from my other guppies. the day after she had her fry i started finding more, over the course of i guess 5 days i kept finding fry. i put them all in a 5 gal tank i had, then i noticed some of the fry looked different than the rest, one was even orange. i didn't think they looked like guppies, but i'm no expert so i don't know. i keep thinking maybe they are platy fry or maybe they are just guppies but look different. they also don't act the same either. they stay together at the bottom and the ones that i know are guppies tend to be all over the place. here some pics i got today, on the right side are the guppies and on the left are the ones i'm not sure of. can anyone tell me if they are guppies or platies. i know in a few weeks i'll know for sure, but it's driving me crazy cause i want to know now

probably guppies as you said she had had fry earlier in the week, she may be giving birth to a few latecomers :)

look like guppies to me
how old are they? coz the ones ont he right seem to have a lil more colour than the ones on the left.

They look like they could be Platys, Guppy fry are usually a little longer and thinner than Platy fry.

What colour are your Platy females? If they are a similar colour to the fry and the Guppy female isn't then they are most likely to be Platys.

Good luck with them.

The two little pictures on the left appear to be Platies, while the ones in the bottom right appear to be Guppies. It's hard to say, I think you might have a mix. :)

thanks everyone. these are my platies

i had watched when the guppy had birth, it was on the 26th, i had the four in a qt tank. i had watched her all day and kept plucking out babies, at the end of the day i had saw her close back up. On the 28th is when i started finding these other babies that i'm not sure of.

the ones that i know are guppies seem to be growing and getting longer, some are starting to get color some are not. the ones i don't know of, are growing, but they seem shorter and they are not the same color, they seem more peachy pink and one looks orange rather than gray/silver. i see some have a little black spot on either side of their tail fin, but they don't have any fin color yet.
