I just got back from the fish store and I bought 3 swordtails their names are Pineapple (lol), fishtu (named after my kittie meetu, also lol) and I let my weird friend name one and he picked Abdul (LOL!) I will try to post some pics tonight.

That reminds me of the pineapple Swordtails I saw today, looked really impressive (just wish I had more room in my tank for them ;) ). What colour are the ones you got?

The colors I have are yellow/orange body and black body. And Pineapple is a pineapple swordtail that you were lookin at today. That is why I named him Pineapple. :D I'll post some pics in a few minutes.

Hi mike777 :)

Congradulations on the new swordtails! Just keep an eye on them, though. Sometimes they can be nippy. They are beautiful fish. :D

whoa they can be nippy?? should I worry about them nipping at any of my fish???

Hi mike777 :)

Well, I haven't had them myself, so I can't speak from experience about them. All fish are different and it's possible yours will be ok. But, after I saw his experience with the corys, I didn't feel right about not saying something to you about them.

Just watch them for a few days to see how they act. If you don't see anything happening, perhaps they will be good tankmates for your fish. Or, on the other hand, if one of your fish turns up nipped, you will know who to suspect.

Maybe others who have had swordtails will reply to this post and give you additional input about them. :D Good luck, and don't worry unless something actually happens.

Ok I'm not worried, this morning when I checked on them they were swimming along minding there own buisness. And I'm a pretty lucky guy when it comes to anything lol. And I've been succesful with 2 male dwarf gouramis so I think it should be ok. :D

Hiya mike :)

I have a pair of natural swords (m/f) in a community tank with angels, silver dollars, gouramis, golden barbs, and an assortment of bottom dwellers. They do extremely well in there and I've never noticed them nipping anybody. However, I wouldn't keep them in with something like bettas or guppies; those sorts of fins would likely be more than the swords could resist. I think your set-up sounds fine.
