New Fish Keeper

I dont mean to sound dim but what do u mean by no carbon in the filter?
sorry some people use carbon media in there filters, this will filter out the medication and stop it working.
its usually black and in bags, what type of filter do you use and whats in it media wise ?

Its a jewel tank. Cant say at this moment. I have a big green and big blue sponge a small black one and a thin white one at the top. sorry if this is vague.

I'm sorry i don't know what media/sponges come in a jewel filter, if one is carbon it would be the black one.

hopefully someone else on here has more knowledge of these filters :)

Hey, I've got a Juwel filter and the black sponge is carbon one if that helps at all.

just bought myself snail treatment (King British snail control) will this stuff do the trick! Has anyone used this product and if so was it any good.

King British snail control will do the trick, make sure you follow the directions fully and remove the dead snails or they will foul your water very quickly :)

I have a 49 ltr tank so i only added 2 ml that should be ok i think. How long does that stuff take to work, just so i know when i will need to start removing the snails.

you can add pennies to kill the snails. copper is deadly to them. also make sure you clean the penny so you dont harm the fish

no never had a snail problem. but my buddy did. cheaper than buying the chemical and works just as good

Ive been keeping tropical fish for a few months now and have problems with snails. I have tried almost everything to get rid. Is it a wise idea to move my fish to a small tank and completly empty my tank of everything, clean it and start over. Might sound ott but they are driving me mad. HELP!!! I have 2 clown loaches but they dont seem to show much intrest in them. Ive tried snail traps but they are useless.

Hi, I'm new to fishkeeping and have found that I also have lots of snails which have appeared since adding some new plants. I'm just removing them by hand every day which is keeping the numbers right down. It is a nuisance, but does seem to be keeping them under control. Good luck :good:

I hav snails too they reproduce often. Eggs are laid in a jelly sac on the bottom or side of tank, when you se them squish them. To kill the ones you have they is a chemical you can ask for at the pet store it burns their skin and kills them just ask for it they should kno what you are talking about.

I heard that if you pick the snails out or squash the eggs that they give off spores that make more snails. Has anyone else encountered this.
