Somewhere else, as I am banned...
On New Year's Eve Nina and myself headed off around the M25 to see CFC and get a couple of fish from him.

I would like to now post some pictures of his amazing tanks and fish...but a bout of afternoon drinking means I don't remember a large part of the middle of the visit and I completely forgot to take the camera in... (I can vaguely recall walking into another pub but still don't really remember being in there, or ordering/eating a steak baguette...)

Anyway, the fish I took home with me...

First up is the Senegal bichir. A lovely little thing who we can see here:

And here is a bush fish checking him out

The main reason for the visit however, was to pick up this beauty. A blue eyed panaque (L239) which is in fact a member of an undescribed genus (shared with L269). A fairly rare plec and from looking around some pleco specific sites and forums they are as common as having to clean up after a rocking horse...

Pictures...

And also, as a Brucey bonus, I picked up some snakehead fry. We believe there are up to 12 in there (CFC counted 12 but at the time he had drunk as much as I had...). I have definately seen at least 9 in there. Here is the bes pic so far:

Hope you like

wow my senegal is no where as fat as that. he took down around 7 pretty big tufffies (1.5-2 inches) and still wasnt that fat. hes about 6-6.5 inches now

Nice pics but it sounds to me like you all shouldn't be getting drunk when dealing with fish. :hey:

My senegal bichir is fatter. How did you manage to catch that bichir in his tank!? Its so hard for me to catch a fish in my 55 without taking the whole thing apart. By now the fish in there are expert net dodgers.

*Whine*
Every time I see snakeheads I get sooo jealous. I want some :-(

My guess is the bichir is a minimum of 7" right now. That could explain it. That and living the good life at CFC's... ;)

andy,
what size is your bush fish mate???, i have one at around 3 inches with plenty of room in the tank ets, looks healthy but never seesm to get any bigger but yours looks a fair bit bigger, cheers

Well, today we picked up another plec we have been eying up for some time, an L027 royal panaque. Some of you may know we already have an 8ish" L027a panaque (which is green rather than grey and with spots not lines) so we have now a 2" cousin to grow out for him.

Here's some bag pics (once he's brave enough to come out I'll get some more).

While feeding the tank shortly after this I managed to get some pics of the milky way woodcats Tatia galaxias who have grown a huge amoutn since we got them. from around 1/2" in August the largest one is now around 3.5" (max size is only meant to be 3.9"...). First up is a smaller one showing a nice mouth. Then there are two lightened pics of the big fat one. To give size reference, the shrimp in the final pic is a little over an inch nose to tail.

Feeding time for the community was shortly followed by feeding time for the baby snakeheads, and I can confirm they are rather partial to bloodworm. We gave them some floating plant and one immediately took to it:

And some of them enjoying their meal:

And finally, (I saved the best till last) is an absolutely amazing picture of the plec we got off CFC. For now it is named CFC only because I know how CFC feels about naming fish... ;)

I don't know why you people are saying no more drinks...I got 12 free fish after buttering CFC up with some Carling!

Bah, what happened to 'i'll be awol for about 5 mins'.... You lie, you lie through your teeth :grr:

Cool plec, how big are the snakeheads btw?

The snakeheads are a little over an inch at the moment. The shrimp are with them to clean up for now and eventually to become food.

and that was quick considering this was all done on dial up!
