New Filter Help Needed Please

HI GUYS

i am having real issues getting good water for my fish. i have a fluval u3 filter system i have just started cleaning out my tank and checking the filter and i have noticed that inside the filter it has 3 caged section the first has like a foam sponge in the black plastic cage and so does the third section my problem is the second section is blue cage and inside that it has a plastic bag with like white pellets inside it,

question does these pellets not sure what they are stayin inside the bag or do i take them out the bag?

You should have removed the "pellets" from the bag befors using the filter.

The white pellets are ceramic media which the bacteria grow on, but if they're inside a plastic bag they're useless (and is probably why your water isn't being filtered sufficiently well). Has it been like this since you bought it?

Anyway, the pellets need to be directly in the flow of water.

yes it has been like this from the first day. sorry will remove these from the bag now.
