New D&d Journal

Most people if they upgrade the stock pump go for either a Rio 1400 or the maxijet 1200 because it produces a little more flow. Just a note of interest.......

Regards :good:

ye i googled the maxijet 1200 and there were lots of people saying its quite loud, would the 900 still be an improvement on the stock ?

Cant find much info on the rio

I also have a koralia nano pump which seems to be shifting the water quite a bit

Cheers

just a couple of points.
you might want to move the right hand rock over a bit, cause where it is presently might make cleaning the glass down that side awkward depending on what your gonna use to clean it.
the last pic you put up looks like a colony of zoanthids so thats a good start, hopefully they'll survive your cycling process!

i'd go for the 1200, its good to have the extra flow as it'll help keep your rock and sand clear from detritus.
also if its a good strong flow you can deflect it with rocks to get good flow through your rock work.

thanks for the advise on the rock, i didnt think about that.

think im still going to go for the maxijet 900 with a deflector over the 1200 as its quieter
stock pumps 500lph so i will still be adding another 400lph and the MJ1200 only does 1100lph so the difference between the 900 and 1200 isnt massive.

But I might be completely wrong in my thinking

i just have a maxijet powerhead attached to the inside of my 125 gallon tank. It's not loud at all. I don't hear any noise from it and the only way I can tell it's working is from the movement on the water :good:

Right ive changed my mind I will get a 1200. cheers
ordered some fans to swap out for the stock ones and put on there own power
will let you know how i get on

Thanks
tanks coming on well, nirate nitrite and amonia are at 0

Maxi1200 arn't loud IMO. I had three of them going at once and I couldn't hear them till one of my snails crawled under the pump and inlet and shell tapped on the glass.... so annoying :X

Cool that your bristle worm comes out with the ligth on. Mine won't even come out with the moonlights on...

Healthy start so far. Even though not the most favorable thing, the aipstasia looks like its growing good so good water quality. The polyps look good tooand I hope they survive.

I saw your mod for the light for the chaeto before, very good idea

Ox :good:
