New Breed Of Cat, A Leopard :|

Those cats are so neat. That would be something ! But I don't have the room and my hubby wouldn't let me get one! However, noone can possibly begin to guaruntee any animals behavior! It would be really interesting to have! I wonder how many will be kept by the original owner and how many will end up in humane society's or be given away time and time again?! ????

Yes i agree, but at £12000, i dont think anyone who isn't a footballer or celeb would pay for one. And they would only buy one for show not for the love of the cat

yeah I'm not to keen on having cats because of the damage they do to wildlife. Having a bigger cat just means it can do more damage.
I have seen some rather large feral cats that have done some serious damage to livestock, (taken down sheep and killed dogs). I really don't see any need to be making giant kitties so people can let them out at night to play in the street.
They should be making them smaller and more pleasant natured.

Very true! Thing is at least they'll have a chance at being treated alright. The rich and famous have housekeepers that can make sure the animal gets fed and hopefully will spend time with it! (May be a long shot, but I hope!) They can also "afford" to give the animals away when they are no longer appealing to them. That's what worries me!

Never mind that-imagine the hole it'll dig in your garden to drop its mess in. !!!!!!

Years ago I saw an (obviously) artificially produced cross between a domestic cat and a leopard f/s at a local shop. It was a beautiful cat, with markings rather like a snow leopard. The cat had been sold and returned once already though. Apparently the hybridization produces behavior is quite different from a domestic cat. They are much more active and tend to get into everything possible, making a mess in the process.

For those among us who are now concidering buying one, please read this link:
Simon Brodie.

It's been all over the news in Holland for a couple of months now. The link explains quite a lot. Story cut short, a Dutch couple bought 3 of these cats but didn't get the proper papers for them and the cats are being hold by customs now. I do feel bad for these cats, as I don't see them get the proper care/space these cats should have. Especially in the first years of their lives.

But anyway, Simon Brodie has got quite a bad reputation and even some jail time on his name. Wouldn't go near him, much as I do love those cats.

Just to 'aww' people, one of the cats being held by customs right now:

They're beautiful cats, but what bothers me is his apparent attitude towards the cats. From the quotes it seems as if they are more a commodity than a living animal. I understand that breeding cats does bring in money, however, almost every good breeder I've met does it for the love of the animal, not profit. Personally I'm against most so-called "designer" pets anyways, I see no problem selective breeding to improve the line, however, I think some people take it too far.

I don't like the name,"Desiner Cat," it makes it sound like a peace of clothing or furnature. I'm sure that, given the right owner, the cats can make very good pets though.

But that looks funny
Looks nice but not the right shape for a cat -_-

They sell bengal cats around where I live. pretty cat, but any cat I own would have to be able to go outside and I don't feel to safe letting one of those roam free . My 12 lb cat attacks dogs as it is :X .
