I went for a look in Pets at Home after being dragged round B&Q on Sunday and saw the prettiest betta, but he had whitespot and for once PaH did the right thing and refused to sell him to me, and treated him.
I rang next day to ask how he was doing and they said, oh, he's doing great, looking better and we've moved him to a new tank (yay! away from the neons! I thought) oh and to cheer him up, we've given him 2 girlfriends. WHAT!? I asked what they meant and they said they got some girl bettas in that day. I went off on one, lol, and told them why they shouldn't be together and they gave me the standard, well it's what we have always done response. Fuming is not the word for it - I had to hang up before I said something awful!
Yesterday I went to visit him on my way home from work with the intention of somehow fooling them into letting me take him home! When I found him, he wasn't in with girls, but was just in a general q tank with a gourami, a congo tetra and something else.... I had tied my hair back thinking I was disguised, lol, but they recognised me as the crazy betta lady, so i decided to take a different line. i told them how well they had done and how good he looked, and see all the spots have gone, he's cured, and could I now buy him! Dozy gits said yes :) and I do feel bad for putting him under more stress but no way was I leaving him with those morons to be cured :p So now he is in my q tank, whitespot has obviously come back but I have loads of experience of curing this so I am not worried. Didn't want to disturb him last night so waited till today to get a few pics of him - they are not great as he is in a scratched up plastic q tank with no light, but just look how lovely he is! I love how his fins are kinda jaggedy with the blue edging :)

Good save! I miss having my betta. but i got a new tank and i'm getting it set up for a new betta.

i also went to pets athome and it really annoys me that they think they are so good at keepin fish when they really aren'e. i went in one time and they had put a betta i with a angel. i went and had words. i was told that they are from the same family and get along! NO they don't the poor thing we behind the filter not coming out!

Any way enought with the rant! hes gorg! x

Yep, combtail... crowntails were created by selectively breeding from combtails (by crossing the fish with the longest fin extensions in each new spawn) but these days most of the combtails you see are the result of a cross between a crowntail and something else. In his case, a veiltail.

His fins are AMAZING never seen anything like it... I would have nabbed him too! Beautiful!

Thanks Laura and love you... I thought combtail was the same as crowntail, lol. Well I am always learning! Can't wait till he finishes quarantine and gets into a bigger tank with decent lighting... by then hopefully my SLR camera will be fixed and i can get much better pics! He is even more beautiful in the flesh :) and responding very well to whitespot treatment. He is also eating which is good... and I am sure I saw the beginnings of a little bubble nest! :)

poor little thing seems to be having a relapse... covered in spots today. He keeps looking at me mournfully :( Temp is 80 now though so that should speed things up some
