New Betta

I have so much going on right now. I'm converting my 38 gallon to a planted tank with CO2, higher lighting, etc. I just changed the 55 gallon over to a planted tank (no CO2) -- and finally (hopefully) won the battle with BGA in that tank. Tomorrow I am setting up a 20 gallon tank for my daughter. (I work full time, too.)

But I was in Petsmart this afternoon and I walked by all of the bettas in their cups - which always makes me so sad . As always, I look them over and then proceed on to the checkout counter. Today I made it to the counter and ran back and grabbed the little one in the front of the display and now he is home getting acclimated in his new 2.5 gallon tank complete with java fern and java moss.

He's so cool looking. He has a white face with a spotted looking blue/purple body.

So, it seems no matter how busy life gets, there's always time to help a little finned friend!

Well, I tried to take a pic.....batteries went dead. Will have to wait until tomorrow as they take forever to recharge. Maybe he'll come out from behind the plants by then.

His name is Zoloft. Here's a pic I took this morning -- this is the best I could get. He's very active today!

It is a visi-therm! but it's a 25 watt - that's funny you noticed!

I have an empty ten gallon I think I'm going to setup and put a divider in. My other betta (Paxil) could go in there, too. It would be easier to maintain one tank instead of two.

I recommend getting the stealth version (all black - plastic). It seems to work better than the glass version. The glass one can be a pain sometimes. You need to be sure to have the end with the control near the filter intake (if you have a filter) otherwise, it will come on and stay on well after it's reached the proper temperature. Maybe I just got a defective one...but I have the stealth models in all of my other tanks and they work like a charm. Big Al's sells them for $12.99.
