I got these today at the dollar general for 2 dollars. They hold about 1.5 gallons of water.

In the top I drilled about 30 holes for air with my drill.

Hehe those are what I use to store my ferret food :), very nice, but you are going to give them some gravel and plants and hidey holes and such eventually right?

Yep my next stop to the petstore I need to get some gravel and plants. They all have live hornwort in their tanks which I rotate into my lighted tank so it doesn't die. Mango the yellow betta in the first pic doesn't do well with any plants he shreds his tail on just about everything i'm going to get him some silk plants after his tail completely heals.

ive been looking at these sort of things!
i found a 102L one for £3 so may invest in several for a growing out tank

They had about a 5 gallon size of these which I will probably go back to get later for $5.

Just wanted to update and say that the 3 bettas I put in these tanks blew huge bubble nests today and seem very happy. lol

Lol that's awesome!

You could try the plant cambomba for your lil guy that shreds his tail. It's really soft so shouldn't cause him any damage. Just an idea :)

using plastic containers for fish is such a great idea, i dont know why i never thought of it. i really wanted to keep more bettas, i only have one in a 55L tank, but i never thought of getting plastic containers lol.
are they ok with filters and heaters though...

So long as the filter doesn't create too much current the betta should be fine. They might get blown around some by it at first b/c they're not used to having to swim in any kind of current. They just have to build their little muscles up.
And yep.. heaters are ideal if your home isn't very warm.

Or did you mean, are they ok WITHOUT either a filter or heater? heh
No filter is ok so long as you stay on top of water changes. Alot of people who don't use a filter do total water changes once a week. And no heater, just make sure the water doesn't get too cold. Prefer if the temp didn't go under 76, but 74 might be ok too.

Great tanks.

But don't you have difficulties looking at the fish because its not 100% clear?

we have some by me that hold 102L for £3.00 (whats that in UK gallons)
but there perfectly clear!
so all i need is a heater and a filter and a pump....
then i would have saved a fair bit of money on a giant tank... haha!

These are clear enough to see your bettas pretty well. Pretty impossible to take pictures through though.

Here they are decorated with Gravel and decorations.
Comet's tank has a plastic rock cave thing
