betta's don't require a filter in their tanks. You will have to make regular water changes and how often depends on how much wasted food is in their tanks and if their are plants in them. Plants help reduce the amound of amonia in the water from their waste. Thats one of the things that I like so much about betta's is their ease of care and how beautiful they are. You got a very beautiful one.
