Well, I'm giving these guys a go with my DP. So far so good, my puffer is really far more interested in begging for food than checking out its new neighbors.

They're SO small, but pretty amusing. They don't seem crazy about the current from the filter (10g on a 5.5g) but it made the frozen bloodworm I was feeding the puffer look suitably alive, I suppose, as two of them went after it with gusto.

Well, I've had the DP for a couple months now, and it's had company most of that time with no problems. I had some livebearer fry in the tank to help clean things up for a while when it wasn't eating well and it never bothered them. There's always a first time, but I have other tanks that I can move them to if there is an issue.

The nice thing about this tank is it's on my desk so I can monitor them really closely for feeding. At least three are doing really well, they've taken to the bloodworms really easily. I'm kind of surprised, after everything I've heard about how difficult they can be to feedg. I was expecting them to be bigger so there's a butt load of roomy caves for them, and one is usually invisible. Quite happy with them so far, though. :D

I have my dp tank at the end of the sofa so whenever I sit down I get 5 pairs of eyes watching me all saying "feeeeeed meeeeee feeeeeed meeeeeee" :D
Have you got an FTS please? :hyper:

Yeah, they came in as "Burmese Spotted Mini Bumble Bee Goby - Brachygobius xanthomelas", but who knows -lol- I believe nmonks has said the only real way to tell the species apart is to count scales rather than consider their striping. I'm not too worried one way or the other as they're doing quite well. So far I've only gotten them to eat bloodworm. They've had a go at daphnia and adult brine shrimp but spit them back out. (all foods are frozen, not live.)

Very amusing little fish. I'd like to get more, but will hold off for now and make sure I can keep this bunch alive long term :D

I would never be able to do that...my guys never stay still long enough - - but Neale Monks knows his onions, that's for sure! :D

Mine tend to go mad for bits of snail meat when the F8s throw it about and remnants of mussels and clams too, but bloodworms remain their favourites :D

I usually make a wild guess at the species based on size and temperament. They sell xanthomelas around here too, they're one of the dwarf species that will stay under 1".

well that certainly describes them right NOW, though unfortunately I'm not sure how old they are. They've gotten bigger since I've had them, but not a great deal, so probably they are just about at their adult sizes.

The little guy is so cute   I've never seen these ones in my LFS. Have to say, I much prefer the look of your bbg to the normal "bumble bee" looking ones :D
